CALTEX ENGINE OILSMotor oil, engine oil, or engine lubricant is any of various well-developed lubricants (comprising oil enhanced with additives, for example, in many cases, extreme pressure additives) that are used for lubrication of internal combustion engines. The main function of these lubricants is to reduce wear on moving parts; they also clean, inhibit corrosion, improve sealing, and cool the engine by carrying heat away from moving parts.

WHAT DIESEL OIL IS THE BEST?Looking at the chart below, I'll divide my recommendations into two sets. One for hot places and one for cool places. Hot places are vast plains where there is no body of water in sight. Cool places are those near lakes, seas; and include high altitude areas.

WHAT GASOLINE OIL IS THE BEST?Looking at the chart below, and having researched and experienced synthetic blend. Synthetic blend has 25% synthetic oil and is only 8-12% more effective, which is pretty negligible on a span of 3 years. I suggest getting Pro DS 5w40 if you have money; Formula SN if at budget. There is no reason to get 5w30's with such a minor price difference.

WHAT MOTORCYCLE OIL IS THE BEST?Looking at the chart below, and having researched and experienced synthetic blend. Synthetic blend has 25% synthetic oil and is only 8-12% more effective, which is pretty negligible on a span of 3 years. I suggest getting Super 4T 20w40 if you have money; EZY 4T 20w40 if at budget. Plus 2T can only be used on very old motorcycles, do not use it if your model is within 10 years.

LEGEND ELI5 (Explain like I'm 5)
SAE - temperature range Aw-B. A value is for winter, lower values are better. B value is for summer, higher values are better.
|
API - oil grade, the closer it is to letter Z alphabetically, the better the oil performs. Ex. CI-4 is better that CH-4; SN is better than SF.
Synthetic/Mineral - molecules of synthetic oils are of equal size, causing less friction to the machine. Mineral oils have different sizes molecules. Noticeable changes if engines are compared with each other after 5 years. Temperature - range when the lubricant performs at its best. Delo Silver is a mono-grade oil, it will not perform well on cold temperatures. All other oils are multi-grade and could do well in hot and cold.
Acid Value - acidity, high means the oil is basic (opposite of acidic) Viscosity - the lower it gets, the more it flows like water. Phosphorus, Sulfated Ash and Zinc - for chemists and technical people, disregard this. |
